About Brynford

The Brynford Civic Association (BCA) represents the residents of the Fifth Ward, precinct 1, which runs from College to County Line, up to San Marino and down to the Septa tracks, with both Bryn Mawr and Haverford zipcodes. Our unique corner of Haverford Township is a balance of residential, commercial, religious, recreational, and educational places. We have many historic structures, including one of two Haverford Friends Meetings; parts of two private schools and the only college in the township; and long-term rehab, skilled nursing, and assisted living facilities. From the Main Line Arts Center on Panmure to the Memorial Church of God in Christ on Buck Lane, we represent a range of creative and spiritual experiences.

You can play sports on the Polo Field or on Preston; take a hike along the ginko path behind Haverford Friends; visit a doctor’s office, a camera shop, a bakery, a grocery store; buy a car or get your car fixed; grab something to eat; or take the Septa line to town. If you walk around among our nearly 500 homes, you will meet residents young and old and from every ethnicity. You will also see a large variety of wildlife—many species of trees and bushes, hawks, fox, rabbits, deer, and of course our beloved pets.

About Us

Established in the 1960s

Residents started meeting as a civic association in the late 1960s and early 70s. Bylaws were adopted in 1990 and at one point nearly half the households in the area were members.

Our Goal

Over the decades we have worked together to improve our neighborhood, maintain the right balance of homes and commercial enterprises, keep the streets as traffic-free and safe as possible, and preserve many pockets of peace and beauty. We are non-profit, non-political, but pro-collaboration and civility.

Keeping the BCA Alive During Challenging Times
July 2020
Welcome to Our New Officers

The past 4 months have been difficult for Brynford residents as we work to keep members of our community healthy and safe, especially our older residents. For safety reasons, BCA suspended activities in March.

The six candidates for BCA office, nominated at our last in-person meeting in early March, are unopposed. The BCA bylaws approved at the March meeting allow for these officers to be elected by acclimation. This group will be exploring what activities and issues the civic association might be able to engage in this year, keeping in mind the safety of the community.
Stay tuned.
